It is necessary to have a very good understanding of the meaning of oxidation so that we will have full knowledge of how antioxidants can help in acne removal.
The meaning of oxidation:
The chemical process whereby atoms loose their electrons could be referred to as oxidation. Take for instance if there are two atoms X and Y. If atom X has lower ionization potential while atom Y has higher ionization potential. The atom X that has lower ionization potential tends to lose its electron while Atom Y that has higher ionization potential attracts it.
This process is defined to be oxidation-reduction process. In order words it is obvious that the process of an atom losing an electron is called oxidation while the opposite process of gaining an electron by an atom is called reduction. In a state whereby an atom loses its electron renders it unstable and thereby becomes imbalanced. This state of imbalance causes the destruction in other chemical reactions.
The meaning of antioxidants:
Antioxidants could be defined as chemical compounds that assist in removing free radicals or free electrons from the body. These free radicals are released in exchange of complex chemical reactions that take place in the body. In other words, they act as the defender of the body and enemy of free radicals. They react with them to be discharged from the body by urination and sweating.
Antioxidants could be defined as human friendly compounds that assists human live happy and healthy.
How does Antioxidants help in Acne Removal?
Skin has been discovered by researchers to be the habitation of most antioxidants. The engine room for this vital function is the dermis which is the middle skin layer. As it has already been mentioned that our body continuously produces free radicals in exchange of complex chemical reactions, there is the need for antioxidants to neutralize them.
There is tendency for free radicals to penetrate the skin this in turn result in your skin becoming wrinkly, rough and unpleasant. When you are supplying antioxidants continuously and regularly you can seriously hamper acne development. Since acne is a disorder of inflammation of hair follicles and sebaceous glands therefore it could be proved that free radicals degenerate sebaceous glands and hair follicles, and require efficient supply of antioxidants.
It could therefore be concluded that continuous supply of antioxidants will definitely stop acne infection and you will regain your beautiful skin.
Possible sources of oral antioxidants:
There are several sources from which you can get antioxidant supply. These include sources like food supplements, vegetables and fruits. Yellow, orange, red and green fruits and vegetables contain vitamin A, B, C and E. They are excellent antioxidants and eat as much fruits and vegetables as you can.
Finally taking fresh fruits and vegetables that contain vitamin A, B, C and E will help in no little measure in reducing acne infection only that it is not a 100m dash or overnight healing but after some time the acne free skin will come out. The positive effect may take as much as one month if they are taken regularly, then you will notice that blackheads and whiteheads are gradually disappearing.
